Firefighters rescue cow stuck in pipe at Toomebridge

Specialist fire fighting teams were called to Toomebridge to rescue a cow that got stuck in a pipe on Tuesday night.

Crews from Magherafelt, Omagh and Central stations attended the incident just before 9pm on June 28.

In order to get the cow out of the drain, a digger had to be brought in, while slings, lines and a gas monitor were utilised in rescuing the animal.

A statement from the service said: “NIFRS responded to a report of a cow stuck in a pipe at Toomebridge, Magherafelt. Specialist rescue teams and firefighters used lines, sling, gas monitor and digger to release the animal.

“Fire crews from Magherafelt, Omagh and Central stations attended the incident.”
