Nominations are now closed in the firmus energy Person to be Proud Of competition which celebrates those individuals within our communities who go to exceptional lengths to do something special for a friend or neighbour.

Here are the nominations in the Mid Ulster region- 1 Carol Doey; 2 Valerie and Jim Beattie; 3 Raymond Stockman 4; Rebecca Wilson.

It is now up to you, the readers, to vote for who you believe is most worthy to win the title of ‘Person to be Proud Of’.

The competition, running through Johnston Press papers and supported by firmus energy, has highlighted people from across Northern Ireland who are carrying out deeds above and beyond what would be expected of them; the ‘shining stars’ of our communities.

Angeline Sloan of firmus energy, commented: “We are just delighted that so many people have nominated their friends, family and neighbours in this competition.

“It is touching to see such a great deal of warm-heartedness across Northern Ireland.

“We have more than 66,000 customers across the province and know that so many of them give up their time and energy to benefit others and that is why supporting a competition such as this is important to us. The difficult decision of who should win the title of ‘Person to be Proud Of’ is now over to you, the readers, and I would encourage you to support those nominated and vote in the competition!”

firmus energy employs around 90 people in its Antrim headquarters and invests heavily in its teams.

In 2013, firmus energy brought natural gas to a number of new areas including Bushmills, Bessbrook and Ballyclare and hopes to bring the low-cost, environmentally-friendly, practical fuel to even more homes and businesses throughout 2014 and beyond.

Householders and businesses along the natural gas pipeline which are interested in finding out more about converting to natural gas, can visit www.firmusenergy.co.uk or call 08456 08 00 88.
