COOKSTOWN Olympic travelled to Portadown last Saturday to play Seagoe in the first round of the Mid-Ulster Cup and came away with a comfortable 3-1 win.

Olympic created a number of good chances in the first half and were quickest into their stride with Owen Mulligan forcing a save from his header after five minutes while 10 minutes later Jock Harley
hit the post after a good run.

Colm Devine then clipped the crossbar on 28 minutes with a shot while Mulligan headed off the post on 37 minutes from Kevin Kelly's free kick.
Cookstown eventually opened the scoring on 40 minutes when a short corner routine between Kevin Kelly and Ciaran Campbell saw Mark Graham head home.

Seagoe probed in the second half and had the ball in the net on 48 minutes but a blatant shove ensured that it was chalked off.

Devine then went close again on 55 minutes after good work from Darran McOscar and Kevin Kelly while Cookstown doubled their lead on 70 minutes after a quick break with Barry Hughes pulling the ball back for Mulligan to volley home from 10 yards.

Seagoe did put together a bit of football to pull one back on 80 minutes but Olympic regained their two goal advantage on 82 minutes when John Scott came out of defence giving Declan Doherty and Barry Hughes the chance to link up and provide a cross for Owen Mulligan to head powerfully home. Cookstown easily closed out Seagoe for the remainder of the half.

Team: G Stewart, S O'Hare, M Graham, C Campbell, J Harley, K Kelly, O Mulligan, Colm Devine D McOscar, E Ferreira, J Scott. Subs: D Doherty, B Hughes, A McPartland.

Manager Ricky Averill commented: "We always had that bit extra in reserve if needed in this cup match and we kept Seagoe on the back foot for most of the match. "There were a lot of chances created by our passing football especially in the first half and at the end of the day it was a pretty comfortable fixture."

Last Saturday's match was sponsored by Sparkles Window Cleaning Services.

Cookstown Olympic's next match will take place on Saturday 17 November when they will entertain Raceview at the Mid Ulster Sports Arena in the semi-final of the Crawford Cup with a 1.30 kick off.

This will be a good chance for Olympic to push themselves in to the first cup final of the season in the Ballymena Intermediate League.

Cookstown Olympic Colts
The Colts travelled to play FC Larne last Saturday and were soundly beaten by seven goals to one.

There were no real positives to come out of this lackluster performance with a number of players under performing and the Colts will have to try and turn this slow start to their season around otherwise they will be mixing at the wrong end of the table.

The next fixture for the Colts will be announced at training.

Fundraising
The Lucky 4 Lottery numbers for Saturday 10 November were 10, 11, 12 and 23, and there were no winners who matched all four numbers for the £850 jackpot. There were also no winners who matched three numbers.
The next Lucky 4 Lottery draw will take place on Saturday 17 November for the £875 jackpot and tickets are available from any team or committee member.

Training
There will be training from next week on Tuesdays from 7.45 to 9pm and on Thursdays from 6.45 until 8 pm.
