LEAGUE leaders Armagh came a cropper at Hatrick Park where Rainey Old Boys 3rds, on the wrong end of a hammering at Palace Grounds earlier in the season, beat them 22-12.
Rainey Old Boys III 22
Armagh II 12
Scrum-half Niblock put Rainey ahead with a penalty after 20 minutes. They gained the upper hand in the forwards when the back row of Todd, Shannon and McKinlay excelled.
A Todd charge brought his side their second penalty, but he was injured in the process and had to leave the fray after 25 minutes.
Despite being a man short, the pack took a heel against the head for wing McOscar to score in the corner and leave the Old Boys 11-0 up at the break.
Armagh came back into it and scored a try after a series of miskicks from both sides had caused mayhem. But a great run from Kidd led to fellow centre Bob Paul putting McKinlay in for a fine try.
Armagh replied with a try from their No. 8 who managed to cross despite having his shirt torn from his back.
With five minutes remaining, Niblock made it 19-12 and in the final minute, a drop-goal from Irvine clinched a great victory for Rainey.
