Dungannon Youth U11 - 1
UNBEATEN Dungannon were the opponents for Cookstown Youth U11 in the semi-final of the League Cup in a cracking match.
Dungannon had the better of the fist half and only sterling work by the Cookstown defence and goa
lkeeper Jacqueline Burns in particular kept Dungannon at bay.
The second half started with the score at 0-0 and both sides had everything to play for but Cookstown were the team to come out of the blocks.
Every single ‘Town player ran their socks off in an end to end game with good chances at both ends. This was by far the best team effort of the season and no one player deserves special mention.
Full time arrived with both teams locked together at 0-0 and extra time was called. Again it was end to end stuff with the whole Cookstown team busting their guts to get the desired result.
Howeer, with just seconds remaining and penalties looking inevitable, Dungannon made a break upfield and despite a heroic defence the ball was prodded home for the winning goal.
Cookstown lost nothing in this defeat and their work ethic and attitude proved that they can mix it with the best. The whole team deserves credit for this fantastic performance. A special word of thanks to all the many parents and supporters who cheered the team on from start to finish.
