Captain's Day 2009: Mr Gerry Breslin
LAST week was a busy time at Killymoon as the final preparations for Captain's Day were made.
The course and grounds were in excellent condition and the clubhouse was beautifully decorated for the occasion. All staff worked really hard to ensure tha
t everything was right for the occasion and the large turnout of over 240 members gave evidence of the high regard in which the Captain is held.
The Captain provided a wonderful and extensive array of prizes, no doubt guided by his charming wife Rosemary. The prizes were beautifully displayed in the clubhouse. Captain Gerry and Rosemary were around the clubhouse all day tirelessly greeting members and guests.
Heavy showers in the morning gave way to warm dry weather and the afternoon competitors were at a distinct advantage but everyone had a very enjoyable day. A beautiful meal was provided for everyone by Darren and his staff whilst Trevor and the bar staff made sure no-one was thirsty.
Competitions Convenor Sean Canavan had a busy evening and did an excellent job in getting the results ready for the presentation of prizes. Sean in turn extends a special thanks to General Manager Norman Weir and Past Captain Uel Henry for their help with the Captain's Day Scoreboard
Later in the evening the Captain made his address, which was very well received, before Rosemary presented the prizes.
A special presentation was made to Mr P Ben Rooney to mark the 50th anniversary of his Captaincy of Killymoon.
The evening then concluded with dancing.
