KILLYMOON Rangers found themselves out of depth against Tobermore United in their opening match in the new IFA Championship at the Mid-Ulster Sports Arena.
The visitors should have been at least three up going into half time but excellent goalkeeping by Gareth Maguire kept them in the match.
Twenty six seconds into the second half Killymoon received a lifeline when Tobermore's Mervyn Pattison got sen
t off for handling the ball.
Down to ten men the visitors were vulnerable but Killymoon failed to press home their advantage.
Instead, Tobermore went on the attack and Gavin Doherty smashed home the opener on 53 minutes after connecting with a Paul McLaughlin cross from the left wing.
Mickey Walsh got the second on 64 minutes with a strike which a goalkeeping error helped on its way, and Neil Lamont followed this up three minutes later with a hard, low drive along the ground.
Killymoon's Darryl Flanagan crossed a super ball which Warren Smith did well to head past keeper Kyle Hassan in the 71st minute.
Tobermore bounced back two minutes later with a super shot from 18-yards by Lamont which swung into the top corner.
Neil Lamont had a brilliant game and should have had a hat trick only his back of the net strike in the first half was well stopped by Maguire.
In the closing minutes both Simon Logan and Ciaran Ferry just missed the target for the visitors.
Tobermore will play Coagh at Coagh and Killymoon travel to Ballinamallard on Tuesday night.
