DERRY eased past Down in the second round of the All-Ireland qualifiers at Celtic Park on Saturday.

Down took a two point lead after ten minutes, but Derry responded when P.J. McCloskey found team mate Ryan Bell who pointed.

Ryan Bell was on target throughout the game for Derry, landing six points.

The Oak Leafers were rocked by a Down goal shortly before half time.

However, in the second half, Down struggled to create any chances, managing just a single point against a strong Derry defence.

Eoin Bradley had a shot saved, but Derry maintained control to run out comfortable winners on a scoreline of 0-13 to 1-5.

Down also had two players sent off.
