On Saturday past the Cross Country league moved on to Necarne Estate near Irvinestown and was hosted by Enniskillen Running Club.
Competition in the league is fierce, with clubs from all across the province taking part.
Conditions were extremely tough due to the heavy rain fall, and following the junior races, it was the turn of the ladies and their distance to cover was 4.5k.
Sperrin’s Karen Alexander, who has been in top form recently was one of the pre-race favourites and thankfully she didn’t disappoint, with a 1st place finish.
Karen had been up against Michelle Sturm from Omagh Harriers, who had recently picked up the award of Ulster Intermediate XC Champion.
The rest of the Sperrin Ladies pushed hard for team points, Jacqueline Mulligan narrowly missed out of a top ten place and along with Shauna Young and Nicola Gillespie all achieved strong finish times in just under 27 minutes.

The male contingent of the Sperrin Harriers had a strong days racing with 3 top 20 finishers in the 7.5k race– Jonathan Dempsey, Sean O’Gara and Michael Crawley, all of whom finished in under 34 minutess. Johnny also picked up a 1st place category prize in the M45 class. Bliadhan Glass has been racing well in the XC league and finished just behind Michael Crawley.

Collegeland Strictly 10k- Pauline McGurren, Martin Donaghy and Jane McArdle were in action at this local race. Pauline took 1st placed lady in a time of 38 mins.
NI Ulster Indoor Athletics- PJ O’Neill raced in the U17 1500m on Saturday at Meadowbank and finished in 4:50:27.

Harriers continue to train in Magherafelt at Meadow Bank Sports Arena on a Monday at 6.45pm, and a Wednesday at 7.30pm. Cookstown training takes place at Loughry College on Tuesdays and Thursdays at 6.30pm. Beginners and new members welcome, as we cater for all.
An Creggan 5 mile race is this Saturday at noon. If you are not taking part, your support marshalling, timekeeping etc would be appreciated.
