ON FRIDAY the girls hosted Craigholme, a visiting team from Glasgow, this was a difficult match as the girls were feeling very lethargic, however perseverance, hard work, goal line saves by Laura Sloan and an eventual goal from Jacqueline Burns saw Cookstown win 1-0.

On Saturday the girls 1st XI played against Larne Grammar. The Larne team started very strong and had a few early chances, which Beth Williamson in goals dealt with effectively. This shook the Cookstown girls and they began to attack strongly down the right wing with some excellent passing between Anna McReynolds and Jacqueline Burns.

Cookstown were unlucky not to convert a number of chances but the Larne defence held strong. In the second half Larne had more chances but Amy Parke and Laura Sloan dealt well with the pressure. This was a very evenly contested match with some good passing play from both teams.

The Cookstown 2nd XI also played Larne; the girls played some excellent hockey with some great passing. Corrin McWhirter put some great pressure on the Larne defence and Sharon Watt worked tirelessly in the right of Midfield. Hannah Martin calmly thwarted any Larne attack.

The girls were very unlucky not to convert their chances in the first half. In the second half Cookstown continued to work hard and their efforts were rewarded when Katie Sloan scored from an individual run. The game finished 1-0.
