Desertmartin bowlers enjoy dinner

AS a fitting end to another successful season, the annual presentation dinner of Desertmartin Bowling Club was enjoyed by many when held at Moyola Park Golf Club in Castledawson.

Following the meal, the secretary, Norman Caskey, welcomed the club members and visitors also giving a progress report.

Vice chairperson of Magherafelt District Council, Ann Forde, was present and also spoke.The Rector thanked all who had helped towards the organsing of the evening, and also the club for having himself and Janet as their guests.

Canon Kingston then presented the prizes which were awarded as follows; Joseph Leacock Memorial Shield ( Mens Singles) – winner, Norman Caskey ; runner up, Billy Wallace . Austin Cup (Ladies Singles ) – winner, Bridie Kelly ; runner up, Eileen Austin. Wallace Shield (Mens Double ) - winners, Harry Greer and Ronnie Caskey ; runners up, Billy Wallace and Harry Bradley . Gregg Cup (Ladies Doubles ) – winners, Eileen Austin and Sarah Michelle Wallace; runners up, Geraldine Gregg and Helen Wallace.

After the awards, Sarah Michelle Wallace presented Mrs Kingston with a bouquet of flowers while a draw for prizes then took place. Gratitude is expressed to all who donated prizes, which were greatly appreciated by the recipients , and thanks to all those who made this such a memorable evening.
