Coagh United 7 Chimney Corner 0

Coagh United’s title tilt remains right on track with a vital three points but, more importantly, a boost to their goal difference.

Going into this game Coagh’s eyes were simply on gaining three valuable points but this demolition job significantly boost the Hagan Park side’s goal difference which, come the end of the season, could make all the difference.

Marck Scott, Johnny Black and Aaron Campbell all served up braces apiece with James Ferguson added the seventh from the spot in as one-sided affair as you’re likely to see.

The home side served up two early warnings as first Black and then Scott wasted good chances from inch-perfect Marcas Dallas passes.

But Scott deservedly opened the scoring after just 12 minutes. His cross towards Black was initially blocked but from the return ball he fired his shot under the keeper’s body for the opener.

An unmarked Ferguson headed a good chance over but he made amends soon after, adding Coagh’s second from the spot after a pull in the box was spotted by the referee.

Chimney Corner continued to struggle to contain Coagh and on 36 minutes Black finished off a great move, guiding home Campbell’s low cross past the outstretched arm of Jamie Willigan to make it 3-0.

Johnny Black added his second of the game six minutes later, an audacious chip from 20 yards that glided over the keeper.

The second half continued in the same vein with Coagh adding number five just five minutes after the break. Mark Scott delivered an inch-perfect cross from a free-kick and Campbell ghosted in unmarked to nod home.

Chimney Corner came back into the game a little but the threat was quelled by the impressive David Calderwood and Aaron Thornton before the Hagan Park men added to their lead. Substitute Glen Clarke sparkled with some neat footwork before Scott added his second of the game with a half volley from 18 yards.

The home side lost their finishing touch a little after that but Campbell popped up with the seventh, a quick drop of the shoulder creating enough space to squeeze his shot in off the post.
