Defiant Killymoon battle to the end

Dundela 3

Killymoon Rangers 0

KILLYMOON started off the new season by travelling to Wilgar Park to face Dundela, hoping to come away with three points but it was simply not to meant be.

The Moon were punished after just fifteen minutes when the defence missed a clearance and Dundela’s Jamie Turner drove the ball into the back of the net.

The game became a back and forth tie with neither side able to find the back of the net with both sides missing some guilt edged opportunities.

Dundela also found Moon netminder Gary Stewart in top form, as he pulled off some fantastic saves

Killymoon stayed strong, playing some great passing football but simply could not take their chances.

The second half resembled the first with Killymoon just unable to put the ball in the net. However, it took an inspirational substitute to seal the tie for the Duns.

Glen Upton came off the bench and scored two. The Moon defence simply could not mark Upton as he scored twice in three minutes.

At this point Killymoon were fighting a losing battle but they can be proud of their performance.

The away side walked away from the Hen Run with the knowledge that they have the ability to play some impressive football and hope to continue this into their next match,

Killymoon’s next game they will play hosts to PSNI on Friday night at MUSA 8pm kick off and their seconds playing away to Magherafelt Sky Blues
