Easy three points for Ards

Tobermore United 1- 4 Ards ARDS deservedly took all three points in an entertaining game at Fortwilliam Park last Saturday but Tobermore boss Johnny Law will be very disappointed to lose by such a margin.

Indeed Tobermore shaded the early exchanges and took the lead on 10 minutes when Neil Lamont got his head to a David McClements free kick which looped over the stranded Graham McKibben.

Sammy Devine squared things up for the visitors with a superb strike on 28 minutes that home stopper Sammy Foster could only watch flash past him into the top corner of his net.

Tobermore had big striker Davy Patton carried off early in the second half with a bad gash on his knee and his replacement Hugo Batista’s pace gave the visitors something different to deal with.

Ross Arthurs put the visitors ahead with a good header on 66 minutes and 5 minutes later McKibben prevented Tobermore from drawing level when he somehow got a finger tip to Kris Magill’s curling shot that was destined for the back of the net.

As is usually the case in football if you don’t take your chances you can be punished and that’s exactly what happened when Aaron McKee put the game beyond Tobermore with a neat finish on 73 minutes and, with Tobermore possibly having one eye on next weeks cup final, Arthurs added number 4 from close range in the last minute.
