Eight’s great for Moyola lads

Moyola U12s kept up their recent good form by putting eight goals past Portrush in a Coleraine League match.

Having not played for two weeks, any worries of not being up to pace were soon put aside when after three minutes Moyola took the lead, D Hughes chipping the keeper from 25 yards.

Moyola scored their second when O.Lee burst down the line and fed Liam Young who sent Hughes through for number two with a
cool finish.

After 15 minutes wing wizard Hughes completed his hat-trick when Clarke combined with McGroggan who floated a great
diagonal pass over the Portrush defence.

Moyola didn’t take their foot off the pedal and scored their fourth when M.Mangion again played an intelligent pass to Hughes who ran through the defence to score his fourth.

The first half came to a close whith O.Lee preventing Portrush from nearly scoring with a great last ditch tackle.

Moyola replaced the goal hero with Chris Gordon and he soon got in the action by sending Darach Palframan through on goal to calmly slot home to put his team five up.

Ten minutes into the half top scorer R.Lynn got injured and was replaced by D.Hughes. D.Palraman was then
pushed up front alongside L.Young and with his pace Portrush found him a
real handful.

Moyola scored their sixth when Clarke cut out a Portrush attack and fed McGroggan who clipped another great ball for Palframan to slide the ball past the advancing keeper.

It was only a matter of time before the Moyola lads got their seventh, Palframan claiming his hat-trick with another fine finish.

The Dawson blues got their eighth when L.Young passed to Hughes and his lay-back was drilled home
by McGroggan.

This was a brillant performance by the Moyola lads and a great advertisement for youth soccer.

Team: D.McErlain, M.Mangion, O.Lee, J.Clarke, S.McGroggan, D.Palframan, J.Gilmour, P.Diamond, D.Hughes, R.Lynn, L.Young. Sub: C.Gordon
