LOUGHGALL UTD RESERVES 2 COAGH UTD RESERVES 3
Coagh travelled to Lakeview on Saturday to take on the runaway league leaders, who they’d already turned over a fortnight ago.
In the opening moments it was Coagh that started the better, Johnson and Creighton combining to create the first chance.
On 16 minutes it was the home side that took the lead, the Loughgall player converting from close range after Coagh had failed to clear a corner kick.
This setback was to spur the visitors on and with the midfield of Lees and Glasgow impressing Coagh where back on level terms on 23 minutes, Ramsey finishing low from the edge of the box.
The Home side were out of sorts as Coagh finished the half the stronger with a goal on 40 minutes. A foul wide on the right on Lees, saw Glasgow’s perfect cross met by the head of Creighton to give the home keeper no chance.
Loughgall came out fired up for the second half, and in the first two minutes McKenzie blocked well at his near post to keep the home side at bay.
Coagh were well organised as they soaked up a lot of early pressure. On 60 minutes Gates replaced Johnson as Coagh changed their shape, and on 64 minutes Creighton broke clear with just the keeper to beat only to be upended by the Loughgall No.5.
But to everyone’s amazement the Referee waved play on. As the clock moved onto 66 minutes Coagh where then dealt a cruel twist as a set piece wide on the left was turned in for 2-2 by the Loughgall No5.
Coagh improved as the game went on, and after 76mins found themselves back in front. Gates shot across the home keeper into the far corner for 2-3.
The last real chance of the game came on 83 minutes as the home side broke clear only to see McKenzie pull of a great blocking save. Coagh have now won their last three league games against the top two and will hope to continue the run with a home game against Newry City next week, Coagh Sports Centre at 2.15pm.
