Coagh United new management duo of Mark McMemeny and Jim Scott got off to a winning start in their first pre-season away to Moneyslane.

Despite the victory the managers said they won’t be getting carried away and will be using the next three matches to assess the players’ performance and fitness.

On Saturday Coagh travelled with a squad of 15 which meant there was plenty of action on and off the bench.

Stephen Lamont finally broke down a well drilled Moneyslane defence led by Darragh Peden while William Hassan was in hand to make a couple of saves to keep Coagh ahead at the half.

Mattie Kempton extended Coagh’s lead on 47 minutes and the same player brought the best out of the home keeper before rattling the cross bar with a 20 yard drive. Aaron Campbell made it safe with a well taken goal on

70 minutes while new signing Johnny Young wrapped up a good all round display from this new look Coagh side.

Coagh Reserves started their preparation with a fine 4-2 win over Enniskillen Town. Jamie Holmes weighed in with two while Steven Ramsey and Johnny Johnston rounded off a good day at the office.

This Tuesday night both teams will be back in action when Coagh United welcome Ballymena premier League side Magherafelt Sky Blues for a 7-30 start at Hagan Park.

Down the road Coagh Reserves entertain Cookstown Olympic at Coagh Sports Centre for a 7.15pm start. On Saturday 26th July Coagh welcome Ballinamallard to Coagh for a 2pm start at Hagan Park.
