Coagh Reserves out played second placed Annagh in an action packed game played at Coagh Sports Centre on Saturday.

This win pushes Coagh into third place in the League, just three points behind Saturday’s opponents Annagh.

The game started with a minute’s silence for the Dallas Family. Coagh’s sympathy go to Alan, Marcus and Stuart on the loss of a mother and granny and is also extended to the wider Dallas Family circle.

Coagh were slow out of the blocks with the visitors taking control early on but a through ball to Campbell from Glasgow changed things into Coagh’s favour after twenty minutes. The Coagh forwards ran clear of the visitors defence only to be upended by the Annagh keeper. After the Annagh keeper received a booking, penalty expert Lee Smyth made no mistake from the spot to put the home side 1-0 up.

Annagh came storming back and two good saves from the home stopper McKenzie kept the home side ahead. Five minutes later Coagh were 2-0 up, good play out of midfield to the wing saw Smyth turn his second home from Ramsey’s cross.

Buzzing in every part of the park the Coagh Reserves made it three after Bill Lees was on target; Aaron Campbell made it a memorable first after he again outpaced the Annagh defence to score.

Coagh took control at the start of the second half and finished the match off as a contest when Campbell slotted home after ten minutes. Frustrated the visitors lost their number nine after lashing out giving referee Earls no option but to show a straight red.

Jamie Holmes and Simon Gates and Aaron Reid came off the bench to combine with Lee Smyth to give Campbell his hat trick. Near the end the visitors’ frustration again boiled over with their number four getting his marching orders.

This was an excellent performance from the home side which pushes their home wins to ten.

This week Coagh Reserves travel to League Leaders, Loughgall. A win for the home side should see them virtually win the League title for this season while Coagh will be looking to push on into the runners-up spot. Kick off is at 2.15pm.
