Cookstown Celtic travelled to take on Keady Celtic on Saturday and despite having a depleted squad they earned a 2-0 victory.

Cookstown got off to the best possible start after five minutes when a long throw from Stephen Devlin found its way to the back where McCloskey was on hand to smash his volley into the net.

Things got even better for Cookstown five minutes later when McCloskey’s cross was diverted into his own net by the Keady defender.

Cookstown were coping well with the hosts attacks and could have added to their lead through efforts from McCaffrey and Shane Devlin.

Cookstown controlled most of the second half proceedings and went close to extending the lead when a fine effort from O’Neill shaved the post. Cookstown comfortably seen the remainder of the game out to record another three points.

Cookstown Celtic return to action on Wednesday night when they travel to take on Donaghmore with a 6.30pm kick off.

On Saturday Cookstown Celtic host Portadown BBOB at MUSA with a 2.15pm kick off

There will be no training this week but it will resume again on Wednesday 15th April at MUSA 8-9pm.s
