A disappointing home draw for Moyola Park Olympic, saw them drop vital points in their quest for the Ballymena Junior League Second Division title.
The Castledawson hosts made a bright start to the game and took an interval lead, but gave a below par showing in the second half.
A strong Sport & Leisure side had the first chance of the match when a headed effort brought a good save from Moyola keeper Maguire. In reply, the hosts created through Milne and McErlean and eventually took a 10th minute lead.
Here, a great cross from the right was controlled by Holmes who in turn, set up Taggart for a fine score to make it 1-0. And, barely six minutes later, Taggart had an acrobatic overhead kick well stopped, the ball rebounding to Holmes who netted, only to have the goal disallowed for offside.
Despite this, the visitors were always a threat going forward. In one particular attack, Sport & Leisure had two efforts blocked by Maguire and then struck the crossbar in a follow up.
There was a real setback for Olympic on the restart. In the 47th minute, a corner kick on the right somehow found the back of the net to bring the sides level at 1-1.
And, midway through the half, when the away side were reduced to ten men, it looked that this may have given Moyola the lift they badly needed. In the 75th minute,Kilpatrick had a headed goal disallowed while in quick succession, both Diamond and Loughrey also went close.
Near the end,Loughrey fired across goal, but the full time whistle sounded with the sides level at 1-1 . A disappointing result therefore sees valuable top of the table points dropped by Moyola Park Olympic.
