MOYOLA PARK 1 COLERAINE 1 (1-3 ON PENALTIES)

Having had the Boxing Day final postponed Moyola Park were made to wait for their Craig Cup final with Coleraine Reserves.

For neutrals though it was worth the wait as the sides served up an excellent 120 minutes of football before the Castledawson men were cruelly denied on penalties.

Coleraine were on top for much of the opening half in the Fortwilliam Park clash and went closest with a long range effort from Stuart Glasgow.

Moyola were battling gallantly though and shortly before the interval got the goal they so dearly wanted as Steven Kenning fired in the opening goal of the contest from 20 yards out.

Coleraine Reserves came out and attacked the Moyola rearguard with the long throw ins from Luke Bradley causing problems in the Castledawson side’s defence,

This pressure eventually told as Coleraine eventually found the back of the Moyola net.

A long ball out of defence allowed Craig Moore to get his shot in on goal, lobbing Marty Farniok to bring the sides level at a goal each.

Coleraine tried to push on for the winner with Moyola twice denying goal scorer Moore from getting his second.

Stuart Glasgow had a chance from a free kick but he was denied by Farniok with a stunning save.

Moyola were under pressure and could have fallen behind once again as Hugo Batista fired is shot off the underside of the bar and out to safety.

Moyola though hadn’t given in just yet and could well have nicked the winner when Dowie went very close with a header, the Coleraine keeper all but beaten in the Bannsiders goal.

The game was to finish as a 1-1 draw and extra time played with the sides unable to be separated over the next half hour.

There was to be hearbreak though for Moyola Park however as with Coleraine 3-1 ahead the final Moyola penalty rattled back off the post to give Coleraine Reserves victory.
