Tobermore United 1 Armagh City 2

Tobermore entertained Armagh City at Fortwilliam Park last Saturday where a brave performance from the Reds saw them come up short

A blistering start from the visitors saw them take a two goal lead in the opening 15 minutes with goals from Matthew Hynds and Gareth Grimley.

At that stage Armagh were well on top but their lead was halved midway through the half when Trevor Parkhill latched onto a fine cross to fire home on the half volley.

The visitors had a couple of good chances before the interval but failed to add to their lead.

The second half saw the home side put the visitors defence under a lot more pressure but they held firm.

The best chance to level came when a Parkhill slot was blocked for a corner just when it looked as if he was about to find the City net.

Although this was another home defeat for Tobermore manager Adrian Whiteside was pleased with the performance against one of the leagues top sides and it will take a few games for new faces to bed in.

Unfortunately Tobermore has no game next Saturday due to their early exit from the Irish Cup but the up side is that it will give some of the lads a chance to shake off some knocks.
