Cookstown RBL 0-4 Antrim Rovers-

Playing on the newly installed 4G pitch at the Mid Ulster Sports Arena, Cookstown RBL went up against a very good Antrim Rovers side with a number of key players missing.

With both teams trying to find their feet on the new pitch it wasn’t long before some sloppy defending let the Antrim Rovers striker through, who put his effort into the far corner giving the keeper no chance.

Antrim Rovers proceeded to dominate possession and extended their lead to 2-0 with a well worked corner seeing them power a header into the RBL goal just before half time.

RBL came out with more fight in the second half, closing Rovers down more intensely and trying to get in behind their defence knowing that the next goal could prove decisive.

With RBL beginning to get a foothold on the game, fashioning a number of decent chances, it was a quick break by the Antrim Rovers side that got the all important third goal.

Continuing to battle RBL were trying to retrieve something from the game only to concede another poorly defended goal from a corner giving Antrim Rovers an unassailable lead and all three points.

RBL team: McGarvey, Ferguson, Smith, Hutton, R. McPartland, Ross, J. McPartland, Young, A. McPartland, Greer, O’Neill. Subs: Lamont, Simpson.
