AARON Hughes announced his return to the international setup after he reversed his decision to retire from Northern Ireland duty.

The Cookstown native, who currently plies his trade for Fulham FC, now has his sights set on the World Cup Finals in Brazil in 2014.

Hughes had decided to bring to an end his illustrious international career with Northern Ireland in October. However, the former Coagh United man held talks with new boss Michael O’Neill last week and had also spoken to newly appointed assistant manager Billy McKinlay who works with Hughes at Fulham.

O’Neill was full of praise for Hughes and described him as a ‘truly excellent professional.’

The Fulham centre half was named in O’Neills’s first ever squad that will take on Norway at Windsor Park next Wednesday evening.
