Chris Hegarty tried to clear a free-kick under pressure from Jimmy Callacher, but the defender accidentally headed into his own net.

The Blues stretched their lead two minutes later.

Paul Smyth shifted the ball across to Jamie Mulgrew, whose strike was deflected, taking it out of the goalkeeper’s reach.

And it was 3-0 in the 42nd minute. Niall Quinn collected a pass from Mulgrew before driving home a low, left-foot strike.

The Blues continued to press and added number four in the 54th minute.
