With five players missing from the previous weeks team that won well at Dunloy the Blues suffered a heavy defeat to a good Brantwood team.
The Blues started the game well and took the lead after 5 minutes when from a corner Rafferty controlled the ball and finished.
For the next 10 minutes the Blues looked comfortable but were stung when Brantwood themselves scored from a corner with their number 7 getting a free header.
Brantwood were getting on top and scored again on 25 minutes when a well struck shot from the edge of the area deceived keeper O’Neill. This seemed to deflate the Blues, who then lost Hassan to injury, and they conceded again when the Brantwood striker lost his marker and headed home leaving the half time score 3-1.
The Blues came out for the 2nd half and tried to up their game but were dealt a blow when S O’Neill received a rather harsh 2nd yellow card. Brantwood were making good use of their extra man and scored their 4th on the hour mark.
The Blues gave themselves a lifeline when 3 minutes later O’Kane forced a loose ball to the net to make the score 4-2.
Five minutes later Hawe missed a great chance to pull another 1 back but didn’t get enough contact on his header with only the keeper to beat.
Any chance the Blues had of getting back into the game died on 70 minutes when Hawe received a 2nd yellow card putting the Blues down to 9 men and Brantwood exploited this to the full to add another 2 goals thus inflicting a heavy defeat on the Blues.
