Killymoon Rangers 0 Queens University 3.
QUEENS came away from the MUSA with three desevred points on Saturday as Killymoon once again squandered a number of chances. The first half was a nervy affair as both sides missed several opportunities to open the scoring.
In the second half, it was the home side who came out the stronger. On fifty two minutes, Willie Ferguson had his goal disallowed as the linesman flagged for offside. Moments later the Belfast side took the lead. James Lavery gave Queens the lead when he scored with a quickly take free kick. Two minutes later, Lavery added to the scoreline when he slotted home from the tightes of angles.
The Moon attempted to respond and Davy McMullan was unlucky to see his header from a McIlhatton free kick well saved. Gary Crooks was next to have an opportunity to grab a goal from Killymoon. However, his effort failed to trouble the away sides netminder.
However, the away side wrapped up the three points with another clinical finish from Paul Smith following poor marking from a corner.
Killymoon Rangers now take a break from action for a week. Their next fixture is at home to Sport and Leisure Swifts at the MUSA on the 3rd September
There was better news for the Killymoon Reserve side as they comfortably defeated Moyola Park Olympic 6-0. Goals came from Neil Young (2), Gary Campbell (2), Leon Abraha and Gareth McGaw.
Killymoon Rangers 2nds play their first home match of the season next Saturday, when they play Chinmey Corner Reserves, at Beechway with a 2.00pm kick off.
