Moon Reserves stay top of the pile

KILLYMOON Rangers Reserves remained on top of the table after a gritty 1-0 win over Chimney Corner Reserves at the weekend.

In their first home game of the season, a good crowd had gathered as first team had no game. The Reserves had made a great start to the new season with victories over Magherafelt and Moyola.

A few changes were made to the starting line-up with debuts for Hagan and Speirs. It was the home team who took control of the early proceedings.

With only two minutes gone, the two debutants combined to give the Moon the lead. Speirs cleared from inside his box and Hagan ran on to hit a lovely half volley into the roof of the net.

Corner responded well and had a great chance to level the scores but somehow the Corner striker screwed his shot wide.

The home side were also looking to add to the scoreline and Hagan and Stewart were looking particularly dangerous up front. However, they could not grab a second goal prior to the half time interval.

Killymoon continued from where they had left off and continued their dominance in the second half. Hagan and Stewart both squandered decent opportunities to give the home side that elusive second goal.

It was a good team performance from the home side as the ‘wee Moon’ remain top of the pile.
