Moyola Park 2 Annagh United 0- Irish Cup

For the second time in a month Moyola Park defeated Annagh United at Mill Meadow, this time Moyola advanced to the fifth round of the Marie Curie Irish Cup.

Moyola Park suffered an early casualty when Sean McCabe, making his first start since an injury sustained against Newbuildings at the semi-final stage of the North West Senior Cup back in October, fell awkwardly in the third minute and had to be replaced by Steven Kenning.

The opening exchanges in the game were evenly balanced with neither side testing the opposing goalkeeper.

Shea Campbell was fortunate to only receive a yellow card as a result of an incident in the 24th minute.

On the half hour mark a run by Darren Walls on the left resulted in a Kenning header being deflected for a corner.

A Francis McCann effort was well cleared by Moyola Park captain Steven McQuillan.

One minute before the halftime whistle Mark Waddell deflected a Darren Walls corner on the right into the path of Eugene Gallagher who headed past Annagh ‘keeper Andy Wright.

Moyola Park came close to doubling their goal tally when Steven Kenning narrowly failed to get on the end of an excellent cross by Chris Dowie from the left wing.

Wright did well to make a finger tip save at the expense of a corner following a strong effort by Dowie.

Waddell secured a place in the next round for the Mill Meadow men when he stabbed the ball past Wright again following a Walls corner this time from the left in a move which also involved Michael Walsh.

Annagh came close to scoring when a Paul Stretton 30 yard effort was tipped over his crossbar by Farniok.

Two minutes from time Kenning had an opportunity to add to the Moyola Park tally when having been fouled in the penalty area he stepped up to shoot from the spot, however Wright made a good clearance.
