Moyola deliver Christmas stuffing
Ballymoney 1 Moyola Park U12 4
Moyola U12 will enjoy their Christmas after winning 4-1 away to Ballymoney on Saturday.
The ‘Dawson boys were looking to win their third match on the trot and they produced a stunning display of super football which also contained all round effort.
The wee blue men took the lead after 40 seconds when L. Young won the ball straight from the kick off and his slide-rule pass found R. Lynn who hammered the ball past the Ballymoney keeper. From the restart Ballymoney played a long ball and nearly caught Moyola napping but J. Clarke cut out the danger with a fine tackle.
Moyola got their second when O. Lee won the ball in midfield and fed C. Gordon who played in D. Hughes to fire past the advancing keeper.
With the score 2-0 Moyola were starting to find their rythmn and Palframan on one wing and Mangion on the other were crating chance after chance for the Moyola forwards but Ballymoney to their credit defended well.
Moyola nearly scored a third after some exquisite passing which involved D.Clarke winning the ball at the back and releasing J. Gilmour who played in Hughes and his cross was met by Lynn but the keeper saved well.
Moyola scored a third when Lynn ran on to a through pass from L. Young and with his usual calmness placed his shot into the net. With seconds to halftime whistle Ballymoney grabbed a goal back against the run of play when their wingers cross sailed over the Moyola keeper head.
The second half started with Moyola wanting to finish the match off and they nearly grabbed a forth when L. Young broke clear after a fine pass from J. Gilmour but the keeper dived at his feet to prevent him scoring.
Moyola were now producing some intelligent football and playing through Ballymoney with ease but the ball just wouldn’t go in. At the other end McErlain when called upon was showing why he is regarded as a fine goalkeeping prospect with sure handling and good positional sense.
Fifteen minutes into the second half Moyola replaced the impressive Palframan with R.McKee and it wasn’t long before he produced a great through ball but again the Ballymoney keeper was quick off his line. Moyola scored their forth when Mangion passed down the line and Hughes played a one two with Gordon who sent Young clear to score.
Moyola replaced The Goal Machine with Ryan McKee and the youngster caused havoc up front along side L. Young but Ballymoney prevented the score being increased.
The remainder of the match was played out in the Ballymoney half and it was the home team who were glad to fear the final whistle.
