Moyola Ladies launch new kits

MOYOLA Park Ladies Team – Launch of new bespoke kit in conjunction with Outdoor Services and Women’s Aid

With Moyola Park Ladies now on the go for over ten years, the only women’s soccer team in South Derry playing in NIWFA Division Two.

Coming under the umbrella of Moyola Park Association Football Club and playing out of one of the most prestigious grounds in Northern Ireland the ladies team is steadily progressing with the commencement of a Games Development Centre for girls with a “girls only” section of the Football Development Centre on a Saturday mornings 10.30 – 11.30 am and with a Junior Section training on a Monday night from 7- 8pm and Senior Ladies training Monday nights 7- 8.15pm.

It was following a trip to Sweden last year co-ordinated by Alfie Wylie, Northern Ireland Senior Ladies Team Manager for representatives from various ladies teams in Northern Ireland to visit Sweden and their Clubs to study the progression of women’s football worldwide which inspired Valerie Martin, Moyola Park Ladies to investigate on return a bespoke ladies kit for their own team and link up with a recognised charity.

The team visited which inspired this was LdB, Malmo in Sweden. It was on discussion with the management team, Steven Kenning and Gareth Stewart that Steven Kenning, Manager of the team took on to design the kit and it was agreed that Women’s Aid would be approached.

Following agreement of Women’s Aid to come on board the kit was designed. It was decided that it was appropriate that Women’s Aid be asked to be the recognised charity given the nature of the work they undertake in the female environment.

Moyola Park Ladies next home game is on Wednesday night 20th June against Ballymoney at home kicking off at 7.30 pm.

Martina Hemmings stated, “Cookstown and Dungannon Women’s Aid are delighted to have been chosen as Moyola Park Ladies charity and are glad that through sports women’s confidence and self esteem are being increased. We are very happy to have the opportunity to raise awareness of domestic violence and to have the chance to help the women recognise the early warning signs of domestic violence. We wish Moyola Park Ladies every success in their season.”

Our main sponsor, Noel Downey, Outdoor Services is delighted to be involved with Moyola Park Ladies for the third season and extends to the management and the team good wishes for the season.

This is greatly appreciated by all at Moyola Park Association Football Club.
