Moyola Park played host to Dundela with Mervyn Pattison`s men looking to continue their good run of recent form.

The games itself had few clear chances for either side, however Moyola created the first opportunity of the match when winger Oran McAuley whipped in an inviting ball that couldn’t reach any of his team mates.

Lee Lenaghan was in impressive form for Dundela and his ball found Mark McClelland in the box for Dundela, however his shot was comfortably saved by Maybin in the Moyola goal.

Dundela nearly gifted Moyola an opener, when Marc Whitford’s ball back to Sergeant left the keeper stretching and he could only knock the ball forward to Kris Magill, however Magill could not capitalize and placed wide of the Dundela goal. Dundela soon had Scotty Collins, who was making his return to the first team after fully recovering from injury, to thank as he cleared off the goal line from a corner.

Lenaghan blazed wide from outside the area, before Sergeant had to be alert to tip over a powerful drive from Connor Taggart, swiftly followed by another McAuley shot that went over the crossbar.

Taggart had another shot deflected wide, before hitting another chance over the top and despite pressure from Moyola Park, they were finding it difficult to break down the Dundela rear guard.

Moyola striker Chris Dowie had the final chance of the first half however his shot went harmlessly wide.

Dundela started the second half with a solitary change, with Scott Dornan replacing the lively Colin Manley. Dornan nearly made an immediate impact, however Maybin was equal to his effort.

Dundela had started the second half the stronger, and they had a chance to test Maybin from a free kick but Lenaghan could only fire his effort into the wall. The in-form Sofley was desperately trying to get a chance on the Moyola goal, and his best effort came when he swiveled on the edge of the box but yet again Maybin was relatively untroubled by the effort.

The flow of the match took a turn midway through the half when Scott Dornan was shown a straight red card for a lunge. Despite their man advantage, Moyola were finding it difficult to create any clear cut chances.

Dundela created a couple of chances before the end of the game, with Sofley close to reaching a Gary Irwin through ball, and TJ Murray nearly flicked the ball over Maybin after an attempted header back fell short.

Understandably Moyola continued to push on but there was a feeling that the game was destined to end in a draw. Moyola Park will look at this more as two points dropped rather than a point gained.
