The forward was handed a rare start and took full advantage with a pair of classy strikes at Stangmore Park.

The Swifts had the tie wrapped up by the break, by which stage they were 4-0 up. Two more goals followed in the second half as they ran out 6-1 winners.

A strong start from Dungannon was rewarded when they went ahead in the 25th minute. Ally Teggart collected a cross from Cormac Burke before firing an unstoppable effort into the top left-hand corner.

The Swifts’ second came soon afterwards as Lavery got the first of his brace. He connected with a cross from the impressive Andrew Mitchell, scoring at close range with a downward header.

Ballinamallard conceded a third in the 39th minute.

Lavery collected a ball over the top, rounded goalkeeper Cameron Crawford and netted with a stylish low effort.

Any doubts about the outcome were settled when the Swifts made it 4-0 just before the break through Jamie Glackin.

Sub Niall Owens pulled a goal back, but Burke tapped home from close range with two minutes remaining and Glackin with his second finished the game off in the dying embers.
