Cookstown Olympic, travelled last Saturday to Antrim to play Chimney Corner Reserves and after a hard fought second half they won 3-1.

The first half saw Olympic pushing forward early and the Corner keeper saved an Olympic shot after 7 minutes.

Corner then had a chance after 10 minutes when a goalmouth scramble saw Olympic keeper Conway make a good save.

The breakthrough for Olympic came after 20 minutes when a short corner routine saw a cross go in on top of the keeper that led to an own goal. The Olympic lead was doubled after 20 minutes when Connor O’Reilly put a through ball for Nigel Johnston to chase and he toe poked it past the advancing Corner keeper.

The home team then shot over the Olympic bar on 37 minutes and Olympic had a Nigel Johnston shot turned round the post after 42 minutes.

In the second half Olympic conceded a goal after 50 minutes but 10 minutes later they restored the two goal cushion when a corner was floated on to the run of Liam Mullan and he buried the header.

The Chimney Corner manager introduced some old hands to try and revive the match and Donovan McGuckin made a goal line clearance after 80 minutes while Olympic had further chances from Ryan Devlin and Michael O’Hare while Chimney Corner pushed on 88 minutes but Olympic keeper Conway made a brave save at the forwards feet.
