Tobermore Academy brought their season to a close on Monday 18th of June with a presentation night at the McKinney Hall in Tobermore.
The night got under way with Cliff Bennett (head coach) welcoming all parents and players and thanking them for coming and supporting the prize night.
After a light supper was served it was down to the main business of the night, presenting the awards to the players in the different age groups within the club. The age groups receiving awards this year were U9s, U11s and U15s
U9s: U9 Most improved player – Jack Clark; U9 Player of the year – Matthew Thom; U9 Players player of the year – Calum Speers; U9 Clubman of the year – Timothy Davison; U9 Top goal scorer – Matthew Thom.
U11s: U11 Most improved player – Patrick Walls; U11 Player of the year – Jamie Spillane; U11 Players player of the year – Connor Porter; U11 Clubman of the year – Morgan Moore; U11 Top goal scorer - Adam Speers.
U15s: U15 Most improved player Adam Scott & Dara Glasgow; U15 Player of the year - Calvin Letters; U15 Players player of the year – Joshua Scott
U15 Club man of the year – Glen Crawford; U15 Top goal scorer Aaron Hamilton.
The last award of the night was for team of the year and this year the award went to the U15 team who, after a shaky start went on to make steady progress throughout the year with some battling performances and narrowly losing out in the Cup Final to Coleraine.
In closing the proceedings for the night Cliff announced that the Academy were losing one of their coaches, Dane Hymdman who is leaving to go to university in England. Cliff thanked Dane for all the hard work and time he had put into helping to develop the young players at the Academy.
The night drew to a close with Dane presenting a bouquet of flowers to Amanda Bennett to show the Academy’s appreciation for all the hard work that she does behind the scenes, from doing the mountain of paper work it takes to keep the academy up and running, being at training every Monday night and preparing the food that everyone enjoyed tonight.
The Academy would also like to take the opportunity to thank past player Darren Scott for presenting the award’s and his encouraging words to our young footballers.
