Reserves lose out to Bann

Banbridge Reserves 2

Coagh Reserves 0

Coagh’s stop-start season continued with a disappointing away defeat at Cheney Park on Saturday.

Missing a few players through suspension and injury, Coagh started the game in confident mood, creating chances early on.

The closest came from Andrew Creighton hitting the crossbar and Adam Colbert effort coming back of the post.

In an even first half in was the home side that took the lead on 36 minutes. A run from midfield by the Banbridge player, found himself unopposed and was able to get time and space to shoot home for the opener. Coagh failed to create any meaningful chances before the interval.

Coagh continued to work hard to get them back into the game, but were unable to create any clear cut chances. Again it was Coagh’s inability to clear their lines which allow Banbridge to keep the pressure on and they were awarded a penalty after a foul in the box. The Banbridge striker gave the Coagh keeper no chance from the spot.

The away team pushed men forward in the remaining 15 minutes but to no avail, as the best chance was just headed over by McGuckin in injury time.
