UPPERLANDS footballer Dean Shiels has made the short-list for the PFA Scotland player of the year award.
All of the nominees are chosen by their fellow professionals. The talented attacking midfielder is joined by NI captain Steve Davis, Dundee United forward Jon Daly and Celtic centre half Charlie Mulgrew.
Shiels has enjoyed a superb season under the tutelage of his father Kenny. His impressive form for Kilmarnock also led to a recall into the Northern Ireland squad.
The future of the former Arsenal trainee is still very much up in the air. His loan spell with Kilmarnock ends at the end of the season and despite stating he would be keen to return to Rugby Park to play for his father, Shiels has admitted that he will have a sit down and think about his options.
Shiels has made 30 appearance this season for Kilmarnock and scored ten goals from midfield. He also played an instrumental role in their League Cup success as he featured in the side that defeated Celtic, who are managed by former Maghera Colts midfielder Neil Lennon.
Shiels continued his rich vein of form at the weekend when he scored the only goal of the game to defeat his former club Hibernian.
