Six goal thriller as Moyola lose out to league leaders

Moyola entertained league leaders Knockbreda at the Mill Meadow on Saturday with new signing Lee Harris playing in centre midfield on his debut.

The visitors had the first chance in the game when Wright fired a free kick wide in the 1st minute. Two minutes later Kenning at the other end had a shot saved by Cairnduff. With less than ten minutes gone Wrght headed wide from a Williamson cross and Chines fired wide following a cross from the right by Johnston.

The visitors continued to pile the pressure on the home defence with Maguire saving a shot from Atkinson in the 11th minute and 4 minutes later a ball from Williamson found Young and he crossed for Chines who shot over the bar when it seemed easier to score. A minute later the same player missed a cross at the back post from G Corry.

Against the run of play the home side opened the scoring in the 17th minute when a header into the box on the right from Doey towards Kenning resulted in Kenning being fouled and Hassan scored from the resulting penalty. Two minutes later and with the home side growing in confidence a ball from Kenning found Harris who then passed to Paul and his dangerous cross was cleared for a corner.

In the 36th minute Atkinson fired over for Knockbreda and a minute later a cross from Hasson for the home side was just missed by the well placed Kenning. Just before half time Hassan had a free kick saved by Cairnduff and just on the stroke of half time Chines fired a shot wide for the visitors.

Moyola had the first chance of the second half with Harris shooting over in the 46th minute. In the 53rd minute Chines found Johnston and his dangerous cross was held by Maguire. A minute later
the visitors made a double change with Curtis and Dickson replacing Atkinson and G Corry.

The visitors nearly got an equaliser in the 55th minute when a ball in from Williamson was deflected back towards goal by both Kelly and Kilpatrick only to see Maguire save them from an own goal. A minute later Knockbreda replaced the injured Dickson who had just come on
with Rafferty.

A minute later at the other end the home side should have doubled their lead when a run from Lucas found Kenning however his shot just rolled by the outside of
the post.

Moyola made their first change in the 60th minute with Gallagher replacing Paul. In the 65th minute the visitors got an equaliser when Young finished high into the top corner. Rafferty fired over the bar for the visitors and in the 70th minute Curtis also
fired wide.

A minute later Knockbreda went in front when Kilpatrick was adjudged to have fouled Rafferty and Wright made no mistake from the spot. Young had a header saved from Maguire and in the 74th minute Chines fired wide
for the visitors.

In the 76th minute the referee gave the third penalty in the game following a foul on Hassan and Lucas stepped up and finished easily to even the score up.

Moyola should have went into the lead when a free kick from Hassan was headed by the unmarked Kilpatrick. Moyola made their second change in the 84th minute with Colgan replacing Kenning and the visitors went in front a minute later when Wright curled a great free kick into the top corner.

The visitors continued to press the home defence with Rafferty shooting over and then Curtis having a shot saved by Maguire.

With the game coming to an end Chines had a free kick held by Maguire and with the last kick of the game Rafferty made the score 4-2 following a miss kick from Maguire.

This was very entertaining game with the home side pushing the league leaders all the way and the three points could have easily gone to Moyola.
