Magherafelt Sky Blues 3 Dungiven Celtic 3

A youthful Magherafelt Sky Blues first team entertained Dungiven Celtic at Spires Park in the NI Intermediate League. This Sky Blues win put them into second place in the league.

The Blues started well and Stephen O’Neill could have opened the scoring when he went through but the keeper saved well. Michael O’Neill then made a superb fingertip save to deny Dungiven.

The visitors opened the scoring from a corner following some poor defensive play by the home side. Immediately from the kick-off the Blues equalised when Chris Brady scored low into the net.

The game ebbed and flowed and in the second half 16-year-old Jason Ritchie played a superb pass to Liam Brady whose first time cross was headed home by Gregory Stewart.

The Blues had a series of changes to wrap the game up and the final goal came when a Darren Walls free-kick was deflected into the Dungiven net. This was an excellent win to put the club into second place.

Man of the match - Conor Monaghan who dominated midfield.
