Cookstown Olympic 4

Sky Blues Reserves 6

Cookstown Olympic entertained neighbours Magherafelt Sky Blues Reserves last Saturday and lost 6-4 in a league match.

Magherafelt opened the scoring after six minutes with Olympic having a shot over the visitors bar on 10 minutes from Ryan O’Neill.

An equalizer arrived one minute later for Olympic when Matty Hughes shot to the net from 20 yards out, while on 15 minutes Ryan Devlin headed over the bar from an O’Neill corner.

Thereafter Magherafelt went 2-1 in front and Olympic then hit the bar after 30 minutes when Connor O’Reilly had a shot.

Olympic then equalized on 46 minutes at the start of the second half when a Ryan Devlin pass found Ryan O’Neill who slipped it past the keeper.

Magherafelt then hit a purple patch scoring two goals in five minutes to take a 4-2 lead while the match went away from Olympic after 60 minutes when what looked like a perfectly legitimate headed goal from Ryan O’Neill was disallowed for an apparent foul on the keeper.

Magherafelt then scored two more goals after 75 and 80 minutes for a 6-2 lead but Olympic grabbed two goals back in the last 8 minutes from Tiarnan Brennan and Ryan Devlin, but it was too little to rescue the match.
