Newry City 3 Tobermore Utd 3

BEFORE the game United would probably have settled for a draw with City and when they were 3-1 down at the end of the first half they definitely would have settled for a share of the spoils but overall Tobermore boss Oliver McAuley will be disappointed at not picking up all 3 points.

Tobermore could have been three up before Newry’s top marksman Hanaphy put the home side ahead with their first attack on 10 minutes. Dean Stewart levelled with a good header with 25 minutes gone but the home side went back in front 2 minutes later when Hanaphy headed past Willie Hassan and they went further ahead when full back King sent a 25 yard pile driver past Hassan.

Tobermore continued to create chances in the second half and Neil Lamont reduced the deficit with 62 minutes on the clock with a fine effort. David McClements brought the sides level on 78 minutes with a delightful chip from outside the box.

Davy Patton had a chance to win it for Tobermore with 5 minutes to go but chose the wrong option and the chance was lost. At the other end Hassan made a tremendous double save to preserve the point.

Final score: Newry City 3 - 3 Tobermore Utd.

Tobermore United: Hassan, McKenna, Donaldson, Neill, Millar, Gardner, Stewart, McClements Magill, Patton, Lamont Subs: Campbell, Bradley, Drennan, Heneghan.
