Tobermore defeat local rivals
Tobermore United 2 – 0 Magherafelt Sky Blues
TOBERMORE’S pre season preparations continued last Saturday with a good competitive game at Fortwilliam Park against Seamus Quinn’s Sky Blues.
Both managers used the game to run their eye over a number of new players and several on both sides stood out including the Sky Blues keeper who saved 2 first half penalties from Turner and McClements.
United scored 2 late goals to win the game with Dunlop and Patton eventually finding a way past the well drilled Blues defense and in form keeper but Tobermore boss Oliver McAuley was quick to point out that the performance was much more important than the result in preseason games.
He added, “Seamus has a good squad there and they made us work very hard throughout the 90 minutes which was exactly what we wanted. It was a really good work out and it gave us the opportunity to look at some players in competitive action”
Tobermore have three more friendly games arranged prior to the seasons league kick off on August 11th with Coleraine FC at Fortwilliam Park next Saturday with a 3pm kick off.
