Tyrone set for Milk Cup challenge

COUNTY Tyrone kick off their 2012 Milk Cup in style this weekend when they play host to Ipswich Town and Premier League giants Manchester United.

Amazingly, this is the third year in a row that Tyrone have faced Manchester United in the group stages of the Premier section. Tyrone play host to their illustrious opponents at the home of Dergview FC on Saturday.

Premier boss Tommy Canning, who has been recently appointed Dergview manager, will be hoping to avoid a repeat of last years 7-0 rout at the Coleraine Showgrounds.

In addition to hosting the Old Trafford giants, Tyrone face a local derby against County Armagh at Broughshane on Monday afternoon. They conclude their qualifying campaign with a tough fixture against American regulars South Coast Strikers in Portrush.

The Tyrone Junior squad has experienced much success over the last few tournaments under the tenure of Paul Kee and local coach Conor Marlin.

They face a tricky opening fixture as they take on Ipswich Town at Lisnagirr Road, Mountjoy on Saturday.

Israeli outfit Hapoel Haifa are the next challenge for Tyrone on Monday morning at Roe Mill. The Junior side finish their qualifying campaign with a massive test against local rivals Armagh at Broughshane.
