Magherafelt Sky Blues u13s 6 - 0 Institute u13s
AS opening matches go, Magherafelt Sky Blues U13s made a solid start to the 2012/2013 season in the NIBFA league.
Within a minute of play Cahal Martin found Jack McCoy who duly obliged giving the Blues the perfect start. The rest of the half was admixture of good possession, quality passing and resolute defending. Institute in their first season in this league proved a tough nut to crack.Opportunities in front of goal were spurned, two from Cahal Martin and one from Alex Doherty following great play from Pearse McLarnon. Alex Doherty put Ciaran Shields through and his rasping shot stunned the Institute keeper, and a finish that rewarded their first half endeavour. The Blues ended the half deserved 2-0.
Jack McCoy added his second of the day within minutes of the restart, pouncing on a through ball and volleying past the hesitant Institute keeper. Iuri Niza replaced the industrious Harry Evans (injured) and helped himself to a goal courtesy of a Ciaran Shields lobbed effort, the scrambled clearance falling to Iuri who made no mistake 4-0. Institute did create a chance only to see it flash past the post. The Blues finished the half with Alex Doherty cooly finishing a well taken goal to make it 5-0.A Ciaran Shields goal bound effort providing Iuri with his second of the day 6-0.
A pleasing performance, six goals from four different scorers and, importantly a clean sheet. A special mentio to Jack Bresland who was solid behind the back four Aaron Mc Kee and new central partnership of Daniel Bradley, Kealan Friel and Ben McErlain. Lots of positives to be taken from this game, the first in along season, tougher games are guaranteed.
Difficult choice for man of the match but on this occasion it is Pearse McLarnon for his trojan performance in midfield.
