Weekend of ups and downs for Sky Blues

IT was another weekend of ups and downs for the Blues teams but mixed amongst it were some outstanding goals and team results.

The Firsts fell short at Spires Park in an entertaining encounter against Oxford in the Intermediate League. A 3-2 defeat was unfortunate with the goals coming from Mickey Devlin and Franiseck Nicman. The Reserves won 4-2 against FC Remo in the Canada Cup. Ciaran Monaghan, Connor Bell (x 2) and Shane Henry bagged the all important goals. Youth Under 16 – The Under 16’s went top of the league with an inspired 2-1 victory at Valley Colts. Johnny Connolly bagged a brace of goals to leave the young Blues unbeaten throughout the season. Under 14 – A Manus McAllister goal of the season contender was not enough to stop the Under 14’s going down 2-1 at home to Institute. Three points would have put the young Blues joint top with league leaders ‘Stute but it wasn’t meant to be. Under 12 – Despite going two goals down at home to Glenavon the young Blues stormed back to draw the game and could have even won it. Ciaran Shields scored from the penalty spot and Caolan Coyle scored with a thumping 35 yard drive to level the game. Under 11 – The Under 11’s continued their impressive league form when they won 6-1 away to Limavady. Ethan Doherty (2), Adam Canavan, Conleth McGuckin, Fergal McKenna, and Shea McSorley all scored the important goals to secure three points.
