Welders seal all three points

Tobermore Utd 0-2 H & W Welders TOBERMORE entertained the Welders at Fortwilliam Park last Saturday afternoon and after an entertaining encounter it was the East Belfast men who finished on top, bagging all three points in the process.

With fifteen minutes on the clock Ryan Harvey broke the deadlock when he drilled home from the penalty spot after he was felled inside the box. Craig McMillan could have added a second but home stopper Sammy Foster made a superb save to keep his header out.

At the other end Davy Patton should have done better when the ball fell to him at the back post but the big striker somehow fired wide.

This proved to be the order of the day for Tobermore as they created numerous chances without troubling Michael Dougherty in the Welders nets.

The second half was similar to the first with both sides creating chances but again Foster was the busier of the two keepers.

Tobermore sub Gary Maguire could have levelled things with ten minutes to go when he weaved his way through the Welders defence but after a great run he dragged his shot wide when on another day Dougherty would have been picking it out of the back of the net.

The Welders finished strongly and sub Ryan McLaughlin secured the points in injury time when he bundled the ball over the line in a goal-mouth scramble.
