There was late heartbreak for Ardboe on Tuesday night as their All County League bid was foiled by a late Carrickmore blitz.
A Michael Slane goal in the final minute of normal time stunned the loughshore men who had dominated the game for the most part but failed to take their chances especially in the opening half.
In comparison, Carrickmore survived on scraps for long periods but their greater efficiency in front of goal kept them in the game before they struck late.
The two teams had gone toe to toe for the first 50 minutes before the sending off of Colm McGurk allowed a John McConville inspired Ardboe to open up a three point lead as the game drew to a close.
McConville was involved in just about everything Ardboe did in the second half scoring three points himself from play and assisting in at least another two.
However as the game neared the death a Michael Donaghy free kick and then the late Slane strike gave Carmen the league title.
