St Patrick’s Maghera failed in their bid to win back-to-back All-Ireland colleges titles, after a two-point defeat to Kerry team Pobalscoil Chorca Dhuibhne, Dingle.

The Derry boys started the Hogan Cup final well, with a superb goal from Conor Glass and an excellent point from Danny Tallon.

Maghera looked to be comfortably in control, going in at half time 1-04 to 0-02 ahead.

But the Kerry lads came out strong at the start of the second half, and were quickly on level terms, as St Patrick’s struggled to get out of their own half.

Pobalscoil Chorca Dhuibhne deservedly took the lead, but Maghera dragged themselves level, as the game entered its last 10 minutes.

However, it was the Kerry team who surged ahead with two points - a lead which Maghera could not overhaul.
