APPEAL to Parents of Underage players: One of the main aims of our club is to provide the young people of our community with the opportunity to play our national games, providing facilities and coaching to ensure they develop not only skills used in the games, but valuable skills that can be used in all aspects of life, such as team work and communication; not to mention promoting a healthy lifestyle through structured exercise.
All this is currently provided by a small number of volunteers, most of whom are not parents of current underage players, and have to fill several roles within the club. To ensure the children this year and in future years continue to receive coaching and games we need more support and help from parents. An example of this is that at a recent underage league match, there were no parents or supporters present at all to encourage their children.
Parents can help by encouraging their children to join the club, attend trainings and matches, showing an interest in the games, or giving up even a small amount of their time to help at trainings or matches themselves.
If any parents or other parishioners could spare even one hour a week or less to help their children continue to enjoy our Gaelic Games, please contact Chairman Paul Bradley (07512286014) or Secretary Feargal Scullion (07841119137). Thank you.
Senior player Connor Madden will be running the Belfast Marathon on May Day Bank Holiday Monday, 7th May 2012, raising funds for the club in the process.
All those who received sponsorship forms are asked to please return them to Connor as soon as possible, and anyone who hasn’t yet sponsored him should do so as soon as possible. Thanks. Return forms to Connor at training or contact him on 07927503949.
