James Devlin is just sixteen years old but the Moortown GAA player is already being hailed by those who should know as a very special talent, with a big future in the sport.

And his tremendous gift for the sport was manifested in his leadership and contribution as the St.Malachys were crowned champions in two big finals last month, which is the reason he was selected as the Mid-Ulster Mail/Tyrone Times Sports Personality of the Month for August.

In the league final against Coalisland Fianna, they needed all the inspiration they could garner from the skipper as the loughshore teenagers demonstrated an abundance of character and self-belief to etch out a winning 3-7 to 2-13 result.

And, within a week, they were again tested to the full when they took on derby rivals Ardboe in the grade one championship decider, the blue riband of underage games in the county, and they once more edged the verdict 3-10 to 3-7, with James to the fore.
